Come rain or shine
One of the lovely things about living in the UK is the weather. It changes often and it’s not unusual to get sun and rain in the same day. So when the sun does appear, it makes us feel really happy. The expression, come rain or shine, means that something takes place regardless of the weather or any other obstacles. Also, you might save something, especially money, for a rainy day. Which means that you keep money or something else you might need, for a time when things are not going so well and you need a little extra.
Examples
“Come rain or shine, I’ll be there. I wouldn’t miss your birthday party for the world.”
“Come rain or shine, the football team trains every morning at 6am.”
“Thank goodness I’ve been saving money for a rainy day. My car broke down last week and it gong to cost a lot to get it repaired.”
